Reimagine a Vintage Wedding Dress

It's interesting to see how fashion designers take inspiration from previous decades to create something new and exciting. Last month, we saw a sprinkling of early-20th-century design influence at the Paris Couture shows. One excellent example was the 1920s mood at Dior, where designer Maria Grazia Chiuri cited Josephine Baker as her influence. Likewise, our bridal expertise redesigns vintage silhouettes to create modern yet timeless looks.

Current fashion shows inspire us with trends and design details that we then use to update retro wedding dresses. What better way to achieve a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable look for your wedding day than with an eco-friendly option? For our Ready-to-Wear Couture Collection, we transform vintage wedding dresses sourced for their beautiful materials and update them in style and fit as bodies have changed over the years. We swoon when our brides experience the magic of wearing an elegant, transformed vintage wedding dress.

Transforming a 1950s vintage couture wedding dress

This conservative wedding dress had the most beautiful vintage ballgown skirt, and we knew she would be a beauty when she was redesigned.

A Modern Take On A Retro Wedding Dress

To preserve a piece of history sustainably and reimagine this ball gown for a contemporary bride, we constructed a strapless bodice using the original lace fabric. In addition, we added a bespoke satin flower with marabou feather accents.

When I meet with clients who want to remake their nostalgic wedding dresses, I always ask them to share any Pinterest or other aspirational images they have collected. Restoring and refashioning clothing from the past can be challenging! However, these visuals are incredibly helpful in guiding me to understand how my client envisions their dream dress. Then, when I put pencil to paper to design, I can reimagine their old wedding dress to reflect their style and personality. Finally, with a focus on quality and craftsmanship, we hope these unique pieces will be passed down again.
